The Dorian Scale

Dorian Scale

The Dorian mode is the second degree of the Major scale and consists of:

In the Dorian mode, the minor seconds are between the 2nd and 3rd note, and between the 6th and 7th note. All the rest are major seconds.
The characteristic note is the sixt. Compared to the Aeolian scale, only the 6th note is different (Major 6th in stead of Minor 6th). This gives the Dorian mode its specific sound.
